Assistant Professor of Biology

Penn State Altoona invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biology specializing in Ecology beginning Fall 2020. Teaching responsibilities include introductory biology (BIOL 110, BIOL 220W) and upper level ecology reflecting the candidate's expertise (e.g. BIOL 463, WFS 430). Preference will be given to individuals who can teach general ecology and contribute to Penn State Altoona's Environmental Studies degree. The successful candidate would develop an active research program, regularly publish in high quality refereed journals, and participate in professional organizations. Student advising and mentoring is required. Involvement in program, campus, university, and community service is also expected. The position requires a Ph.D. in Biology or related field and is a tenure-track appointment at the level of assistant professor or rank commensurate with qualifications. Postdoc experience is desirable. Candidates should have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, research, student recruitment and retention, and curricular development and assessment.
