The Université du Québec en Abitibi‑Témiscamingue (UQAT) is seeking exceptional researchers in a competition for a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Paleoecology with a tenure-track faculty position. Tier II Chairs, tenable for five years and renewable once, are for exceptional emerging researchers, acknowledged by their peers as having the potential to lead in their field.

The Chair's research program must be structured around one or more research themes related to the reconstruction of the dynamics and composition of terrestrial ecosystems during the Holocene (through, for example, palynology, anthracology or geochemistry). Results from the research program should eventually be applied in sustainable land use planning by using knowledge of past ecological processes to predict the future ecosystem trajectories. The start date is scheduled for the fall of 2021. The successful candidate will be an active member of the Forest Research Institute (https://www.uqat.ca/uqat/departements/irf/) and associated with the International Cold Forest Research Laboratory (https://forets-froides.org/en/irn/irn-cold-forests/), located at the Lake Duparquet Research and Teaching Forest Research Station (https://ferld.uqat.ca/missionE.htm).
