The Mathematics and Science Division of Babson College invites applications for a full time, non-tenure track lecturer in the natural sciences beginning August 2022. The ideal candidate is an innovative educator who integrates multiple scientific disciplines into courses that explore complex problems and solutions related to environmental systems. The successful candidate must have a particular interest in teaching these topics to undergraduate business students. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in a natural science discipline with a strong connection to environmental science and/or climate science, or energy systems. The ideal candidate must have an outstanding teaching record, an interest in and comfort with co-teaching, and proficiency with a variety of teaching modalities (e.g. in-person, hybrid, remote). The candidate should also have an active professional career, which may include traditional discipline-specific research, the scholarship of learning and teaching, or work in interdisciplinary applications. The candidate's expertise should complement the expertise of our science faculty group, which currently includes: plant ecology, physics education, molecular biology, biogeochemistry, and biophysics. In addition, the applicant must have strong personal communication skills and exhibit a desire to engage with the Babson community to provide both divisional and college-wide service.

 

Teaching responsibilities will vary and may include the foundation science courses (multi-science discipline courses with hands-on labs) and co-teaching the intermediate Socio-Ecological Systems courses, which pair a natural scientist with a social scientist to teach integrated sustainability and systems thinking. Opportunities to develop new foundational, intermediate, or upper level elective courses in the area of the candidate's expertise exist. The teaching load is six sections per academic year.
