Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) Urban-Focused Ecologist

Employer
DePaul University
Location
Chicago, Illinois
Salary
$79,000
Closing date
Dec 12, 2021

DePaul University invites applications for an Urban-Focused Ecologist to begin in autumn 2022. This tenure-track Assistant Professor would join DePaul’s thriving Environmental Science and Studies (ENV) department (https://env.depaul.edu).

We invite applicants whose research is in urban-focused ecology, although we are open to interdisciplinary teacher-scholars whose background or specialty might include social-ecological systems/coupled human-natural systems, landscape ecology, restoration ecology, or the study of ecosystem processes modified by urban development.

The successful candidate would teach 6 courses per year, typically 2 courses per each of three academic quarters (Sept-June) with about 5 weeks of winter break. The 10-week quarter system provides curricular flexibility and makes course delivery more nimble. ENV courses taught would depend on the new faculty member’s expertise and interest, but would include topics related to data analysis and statistics. This tenure-track position is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a commitment to undergraduate education. Community partnerships can be developed using Chicago as a classroom for social justice and equity-based research.

The successful candidate will have a strong record of teaching and scholarship and a commitment to helping a diverse population of students to succeed in undergraduate research and course learning, regardless of gender, ethnicity, and STEM preparation. The candidate would also advise graduate students in our M.S. program. For more information and to apply, visit: apply.interfolio.com/88329

Applications submitted by December 5, 2021, will receive priority consideration. For further questions about this position, please contact Dr. Christie Klimas, search committee chair, at cklimas@depaul.edu.
