Associate/Assistant Professor in Marine Biology & Ecology

The Department of Marine Biology and Ecology at the University of Miami, Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) is seeking candidates for an Assistant Professorship in Marine Quantitative Ecology, Spatial Ecology, or Ecological Modeling. Candidates should have research and teaching experience in ecosystem modeling, population dynamics modeling, species movements, habitat utilization, habitat fragmentation, spatial/spatiotemporal modeling of ecological data, statistical methods to address current and future impacts of climate change and other human impacts on marine ecosystems and species, or related subject areas. The successful candidate must have strong statistical data analysis, geospatial and/or predictive modeling and computer programming skills. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with the newly established Institute for Data Science and Computing at UM which includes one of the top academic supercomputing facilities in the US. The successful candidate must have a clearly articulated vision of how their work at RSMAS will contribute to the University’s continuing mission of serving the needs of historically underrepresented and marginalized student communities in higher education.
The Department of Marine Biology and Ecology consists of 27 faculty working on the ecology of coral reefs and other marine and estuarine systems, and on the population dynamics, ecology, genomics, physiology, toxicology, neurophysiology, immunology and diseases of marine fish and invertebrates (https://marine-biology-ecology.rsmas.miami.edu/index.html). Our research spans from the theoretical to the applied and is particularly relevant to human health, marine resource management and human impacts on marine ecosystems. The Department has an active PhD, MS and MPS program and a large undergraduate program.
