The Department of Environmental Science at Baylor University seeks an outstanding environmental scientist at the rank of Lecturer.  Environmental Science is a growing and dynamic department at the nexus of Baylor University’s strategic vision.  Our department has strengths in the areas of environmental assessment, management, policy, risk, and health.  Applicants from these fields of inquiry are welcomed.  Our department has specific needs in the areas of Ecosystem Management and Ecology, Plant Ecology, and Environmental Health.  Applicants from these disciplines are encouraged to apply.  We seek a faculty member who can augment our teaching capacity and expand our capacity to engage undergraduate research.

The successful candidate will be a committed educator who can relay complex environmental concepts to an excellent cohort of undergraduate students. Candidates must have completed a master’s degree in an environmentally related field. A Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a STEM field is preferred.  Degrees in humanities and social sciences with majors in areas such as environmental policy, ethics, or theology are acceptable, as are professional degrees in fields such as environmental law, environmental health, or environmental planning. Preference will be given to candidates with previous teaching experience at the collegiate level, and evidence of exceptional teaching performance. Enthusiasm for working closely with undergraduates, including freshmen, is essential to this position.

This is a full-time teaching position that normally requires teaching 4 courses per semester.  The successful candidate may serve as a supervisor for undergraduate research projects. The position carries the service responsibilities of regular Baylor faculty, including representing the department at graduation and undergraduate recruitment events, and assignments on departmental and university committees.  The position is slated to begin in August of 2023.

Electronically submit a letter of application, a current curriculum vitae, a 1–2-page teaching philosophy, a list of courses in our curriculum that you could teach, and official transcripts showing the highest degree conferred.   Also, include names, addresses, and phone numbers of three individuals from whom you have requested letters of recommendation. To apply for this position, please go to: apply.interfolio.com/106504.  Applications review will begin 1 November 2022 and will continue until the position is filled.
