The University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health is accepting applications for the position of Tenured Professor & Department Chair in the Department currently known as Infectious Diseases & Microbiology (IDM). Founded in 1948, Pitt Public Health spans seven academic departments, with nearly 650 students and 500 combined faculty and staff. We are seeking a leader with a dynamic vision of the importance of infectious diseases in public health in the 21st century. The ideal candidate should build on many current strengths to develop a world class Department that is resilient and addresses current and evolving infectious disease public health priorities, such as those posed by a changing climate and emerging pandemics.

 

The Chair is a full-time faculty position. Applicants (PhD, MD, DVM, or equivalent) must have a distinguished record of research, teaching, service, and academic accomplishments that meet the criteria of the tenured professor level. Formal training in public health (undergraduate, graduate, and/or post doc) is preferred.  Experience in administration of externally supported research and training centers is desirable. Resources are available for trans- and intra-departmental program development, faculty recruitment and cross campus collaborations.
