Director of the Houston-Brumbaugh Nature Center and Biology Faculty
Description
The Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at the University of Mount Union invites applicants for the directorship of the University's John T. Huston-Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center to begin no later than July 1, 2023. The director will also hold a tenure-track faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
The Nature Center sits on a 285-acre site located 6 miles south of the University campus. The Nature Center provides opportunities for enjoying and learning about natural and cultural heritage for Mount Union students, school and youth groups and members of the community. The Nature Center Director will be responsible for administering the center, supervising the six-member staff, overseeing land stewardship of the property, coordinating research, participating in educational programming, marketing, and community outreach. The Nature Center Director will offer strategic insight and advice on the evolution and advancement of ongoing and future sustainability initiatives and programs at Mount Union. Primary teaching responsibilities for the half-time teaching load include ecology, conservation biology and environmental science courses. Additional responsibilities include management of a research program involving undergraduate students, participation in student advising and faculty governance.

Qualifications
Ph.D. in biology or environmental science area. Successful candidates will have demonstrated success in the operation of a nature center, research station, and/or land trust, oversite of a substantive undergraduate research program, or academic department.
