Biology Laboratory Manager

Reporting to the chair of the Biology Department, the Biology Laboratory Manager is responsible for the preparation of multiple teaching laboratories which includes maintaining inventory and equipment, ordering and preparing supplies and chemicals, setting up and cleaning up lab spaces for student use, and dry-running new exercises. The Laboratory Manager will teach three Biology lab courses per year, maintain the biology stockroom, train and supervise student assistants, and assume multiple safety responsibilities for the department.  This position has secondary reporting responsibilities to the Director of Campus Risks, Environmental Health, and Safety.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field Willingness to perform a variety of tasks involving laboratory maintenance, student laboratory classroom preparation, media preparation, and instruction of introductory biology lab Good organizational, interpersonal, personnel management, and time management skills Computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office (primarily Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) Mechanical/equipment basic maintenance and/or mending skills desirable Ability to work and teach labs from 1:00 to 4:00pm, the college’s lab session
