We are looking for an applied ecologist to join our team of environmental scientists at ExxonMobil Biomedical Sciences Inc. (EMBSI). As a member of the EMBSI team, you will work alongside scientists and engineers around the globe to understand, research, and develop health, environmental and product safety solutions for ExxonMobil and the communities we serve.  This position can be located in Clinton, New Jersey or Houston, Texas. Primary Job Functions In this role you will have an impact by:

  • Providing strategic guidance in all aspects of land management to facilitate internal and external compliance

  • Actively collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to envision and advance the methodologies needed to evaluate the next generation of ExxonMobil land management approaches and technologies

  • Leading technical initiatives within professional organizations and trade associations to advance contemporary environmental assessment methodologies and identify novel applications

  • Advancing the scientific dialogue through presentations at technical conferences and publications in the peer reviewed literature

  • Displaying an interest and capacity to continuously grow as an expert and leader

Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Experience in the planning, design and critical interpretation of environmental studies

  • Excellent project management and communication skills (written and oral), including an ability to communicate environmental data and methodologies to non-scientists

  • Ability to work independently, embrace change, and collaborate with individuals with diverse backgrounds and scientific disciplines

  • Demonstrated capacity to lead and influence other scientists to produce impactful work products

  • Ability to accommodate periodic domestic and international travel

  • Previous experience with legislative and regulatory processes and/or work specifically relevant to sustainability, the extractive industry, and global operations are particularly helpful

  • The successful candidate is not required to have experience across all areas, but must have the interest and take initiative to learn and develop
