Under the direct supervision of the Geospatial Data and Analysis Program Manager and in collaboration with the Science and Data Division, the GIS Technician will provide technical expertise and user support for the Colorado Forest Atlas, and all associated applications. The Colorado Forest Atlas is a web mapping application portal that provides Colorado citizens the best available information on forest conditions, wildfire risk, and other Colorado State Forest Service activities. The GIS Technician will support the management and enhancement of the Colorado Forest Atlas by working with project contractors, updating datasets, and providing suggestions for new application features. The GIS Technician will support ongoing testing and training of geospatial software applications developed at the Colorado State Forest Service, support associated hardware devices, and develop new training materials. The position will also have the opportunity to support and maintain the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) GIS server(s); this includes investigating, compiling, organizing, and quality assurance/quality control of data and information across the state. Finally, the position will provide GIS project support across CSFS and work with the Science and Data Division to develop and expand the utility of GIS analyses and remote sensing at the Colorado State Forest Service.
