Assistant Professor of Plant Pathology
Assistant Professor of Plant Pathology - University of New Hampshire
To complement existing strengths the Department of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture seeks a tenure-track faculty member in the field of Plant Pathology who will study the biology, ecology, and/or epidemiology of plant pathogens relevant to New England agricultural systems. Using a variety of biological, biorational, evolutionary, or other approaches, the successful candidate may focus on sustainable approaches to plant disease management, strategies to enhance crop biosecurity, or understanding and improving host plant resistance to pathogens. The ideal candidate will have research experience in molecular plant-microbe interactions.
The successful candidate is expected to establish a high-impact, externally funded research program with applied relevance to food and farming systems; recruit and train graduate students; and develop and teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Importantly, the candidate is also expected to strengthen undergraduate education by providing directed research opportunities, an area of distinction at the University of New Hampshire (UNH). This position is one of two open assistant professor positions in the plant sciences within the department, the other being in the field of horticultural food crop physiology.
