Assistant/Associate Professor: Plant-insect interactions/Crop IPM

University of Georgia

Position: Twelve month, tenure-track Assistant Professor with responsibilities in row crop production systems. The position is budgeted at 80% research, and 20% instruction.

Location: Department of Entomology, UGA-Athens Campus.

Position Responsibilities: The appointee will develop a strong, extramurally funded research and teaching program with responsibilities in the study of plant-insect interactions with emphasis on agroecosystems. The position also has strong funding potential from Georgia’s Commodity Commissions. The successful applicant will provide research expertise at the interface of applied and basic research programs in Entomology. Opportunities for collaboration on plant improvement programs with personnel in other departments including Crop and Soil Sciences, Horticulture and Plant Pathology are also available. Demonstrated expertise in plant-insect interactions from either an ecological and/or molecular perspective will be considered. Instructional activities will include a course in the successful applicant’s area of expertise, contributions to a course in Integrated Pest Management, and mentoring graduate students.

Qualifications: Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in Entomology or related field.

The Department: The Department of Entomology at UGA consists of 35 faculty members situated in a stimulating, multi-campus environment with an excellent reputation in research, extension and teaching. The three campuses of the University of Georgia (Athens, Tifton and Griffin) are multidisciplinary, multi-agency facilities with access to well-equipped research farms throughout the state. Opportunities for collaboration within the UGA Commodity Teams and with colleagues in other departments and institutions are plentiful and encouraged.
